This one says “Historically art illuminates truth or proliferates lies… I’m not sure which it does”
This artist’s name is Mike Lash and some of his works are currently showing at the Pulse show in NYC.

These are all Erik Madigan Heck photos from a recent gallery show in Miami that was sponsored by Acura. Apparently their new ZDX car itself is a work of art, judge for yourself below. This showing is going on tour and will be in NYC at the chelsea art museum on April 8th. Erick’s imagery and use of color is beautiful, my favorite is the woman in blue dress on a blue couch.

This a really cool piece by Patrick Hughes, a contemporary artist who creates beautiful 3d pieces. He’s actually the originator of "reverspective", an optical illusion on a 3-dimensional surface where the parts of the picture which seem farthest away are actually physically the nearest. (wikipedia).
It is really amazing at how the piece moves and looks completely different based on where you are standing.
This piece was at Pulse NY in March 2010. The photos don’t do it justice
I recently came across a great art site: www.artwelove.com This is a great site for any level of art fanatic and is a great way to discover new artists based on your current tastes. It has a suggestion engine that recommends other artists or artworks you may like after you choose an artist you like. It’s a fun site to explore and play around on.
I saw this outside a party in Miami that was taking place during art basel 08. It’s hard to tell but this is actually a huge lite-brite, possibly the world’s largest. Here’s a pic to remind you:
(just a little different, right? )
I threw this up because although this huge lite-brite is a large Asics advertisement, I believe that often advertising can cross into the realm of art, and that advertising when successful blurs those lines. Think of the classic absolute ads that became collectibles, or even how lots of pop art takes cues from commercial conusmer goods product marketing.
In any case, who ever came up with and produced this massive lite-brite is creative and I would say an artist.
Thoughts?
This is a Mathew Benedict Painting that caught my at miami basel 08. I believe it is called “Isle of the dead”. I think he is a phenomenal artist. I love his subject matter of industrial ship yards, oceans and islands, and the occasional skull. I love his use of colors and shading, giving things that seem from another era a modern and slick look. I found some more of his pieces that I like and placed them below. They are from the Alexander and Bonin gallery page.
